Terrene Ventures was founded in 2008. The team that makes up Terrene Ventures has vast experience in all facets of building construction and project development. The principals of Terrene Ventures have 70 years of combined Development and Construction industry experience.


Principals


Wade Metz Mike Walsh Kevin Rech

Wade Metz has been in the commercial and residential construction and development industry for over 16 years.

Wade graduated from Western Washington University with a BA in Urban and Regional Planning and Economics in 1993.  Upon graduating, Wade entered the commercial contracting business in Bellingham working as a project manager for a local Public Works General Contractor.   In 1996 Wade moved to Seattle and began working for another general contractor specializing in large commercial projects.  He managed multiple large-scale, fast-tracked projects from sourcing the land, completing the entitlements and constructing the buildings.  In 1998, Wade went to work for the Murray Franklyn Family of Companies as a Project Manager.  He successfully completed many notable projects, including Shumway Condominiums in Kirkland, Waters Edge also in Kirkland.  Wade was promoted to manage the entire Multi-Family Division of the company and successfully developed several downtown high rise buildings over the next few years, including Cristalla and Madison Tower.

In 2003 Wade became a Partner at Murray Franklyn.  As a partner he successfully sourced, procured financing, developed and managed several Multi Family and Commercial projects.  Since 2001, Wade oversaw the successful completion of over 500 multi-family units.

Mike Walsh brings 22 years of experience in the construction and development industry all within the Puget Sound region. During the last three decades Mike has established many long term business relationships related to the construction and development industry. 

Mike started his career in 1987 with a utility contractor.  He progressed through field and office positions that included supervising utility crews, cost accounting and project management.  In 1997 Mike accepted the position of private development manager for a large civil contractor in Bellevue.  While there, he managed numerous substantial civil construction projects including the Golf Club at Newcastle, Seattle Iron and Metals, Immunex Bothell, the Bellevue Square remodel, as well as several new athletic facilities at the University of Washington.  The parent company of this contractor had land development aspirations and in 2001 Mike was asked to be a key member of the team that would create Yarrow Bay Development Group.  Yarrow Bay has realized great success since inception.  Part of this success is the result of Mike’s efforts, knowledge of the development business and real estate market.  While with Yarrow Bay, Mike was directly in charge of the permitting and development of over 1,400 single family residential lots.

Kevin Rech has over five years of experience in commercial and residential real estate analysis, acquisitions, management and marketing. 

After graduating from Stanford University in 2004, Kevin received his real estate education in Seattle working for Joe Torres while underwriting a wide variety of transactions and marketing them to local private equity.  He gained a working knowledge of deal structuring and financing for value-add apartments, hotel development and re-positioning, condo and office conversion, mixed-use and land development.  In addition to financial analysis, Kevin’s responsibilities included market feasibility and stress-test risk analysis.

In 2005 Kevin accepted a position in Land Acquisition / Market Analysis for Murray Franklyn as a direct report to the ownership group, which included: identifying market trends through direct research; tracking regional and national employment, demographics, regulatory changes; reporting changes in the production pipeline, inventory and sales; feasibility analysis and financial modeling of proposed projects and transactions.  Simultaneously, he began sourcing raw land, single-family and multi-family projects and was a primary driver in the acquisition of 108 raw single family lots in 3 projects.

In the last year at Murray Franklyn, Kevin came full circle from Land Acquisition to “Land Dissolution” as he took on Management of the Marketing Department.  In this position, he oversaw the execution of marketing activities in 13 single-family neighborhoods, managed a $2.5 mil budget, participated in the product development cycle and helped to launch the final division of Snoqualmie Ridge.
